TechPitch 4.5 alumni news: fundraising, expanding, partnering, and making news
In the six years 2Pears has been running its series of pitching competitions, TechPitch 4.5, many of the start-ups that have graced our stage have gone onto newsworthy heights. Here is our round-up of funding and expansion news from some of our alumni:
Exclusiph, an image management and distribution platform that enables imagine distribution to all channels with just one file upload, made the top four at TechPitch 4.5 Fashion, Luxe & Retail in April of last year. It recently partnered with monoKrome, which offers “white label services for record labels, artists and managers.”
Memrica, an app that aids people with memory loss with automated reminders, won TechPitch 4.5 two years ago. Late in 2016, Memrica was chosen from as one of four start-ups (from 4,000 in total who pitched) who received an undisclosed amount of funding from Uber as part of its UberPitch programme. Memrica was the only winner with a female founder.
Trunkaroo, a subscription service that delivers monthly STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and art projects to children aged 3-8, won both the audience and judges vote at TechPitch 4.5 in May of last year. It was recently crowned the 2016 Silver Winner in a start-up competition by MassChallenge UK.
Tailify, a marketplace that connects content creators and social media influencers with brands, came to TechPitch 4.5 to explore expanding from its home base in Sweden into the UK. Following on from its second-place win at TechPitch 4.5 in April 2016, it announced it was relocating to London and had received $1million in seed funding.
Tok.TV, a Silicon Valley-based social platform, won both the judges and audience vote at the inaugural TechPitch 4.5 Sports, Health & Fitness in 2015. A year later, it received $5million to expand its social network. According to SportTechnie.com, over that year the company had seen an increase in number of users from 500,000 to 8 million.
